Opportunities for Giving

TO PENACOOK PLACE

To care for our residents regardless of their ability to pay . . .

…is why PENACOOK PLACE (formerly Union Mission) was established as a non-profit home over thirty years ago by local clergy who recognized the need for such a community resource.

As a charitable organization, we receive state, federal and private funds that support a percentage of our residents, but these revenues do not cover our operating costs. As a result, we seek various ways to make ends meet and to provide a safe, comfortable setting for our residents. Therefore, we have developed several funds to improve our resident’s living environment, support our staff, maintain specialty programs, and purchase or replace equipment and furnishings.

Please consider a donation to one or more of these funds as a way of expressing your support of these people who look to us as the provider of their living environment and medical care.

  • Tribute Fund:  Donations in honor or in memory of residents or individuals in the community (e.g., school graduates) are the most common form of donation. Expenditures from this fund are made to directly benefit the residents.
  • Restricted Fund:  Grants from individuals, foundations, charitable organizations or other earmarked donations are placed in this account, and used as specified by the donors.
  • Employee Fund: At holiday time, family members are solicited to obtain donations for the benefit of all employees. Donations to the fund are utilized to subsidize Employee Recognition programs and for grants to employees based on special needs.
  • Friends of Penacook Fund: Gifts are solicited from vendors, family members, and other “Friends” of Penacook Place based on our annual campaign. Expenditures are for equipment and renovations as authorized by the Board of Directors.
  • Tree Of Dreams/Activity Fund: Our award-winning TREE OF DREAMS program encourages residents to request and then participate in unique activities reflecting the special wishes they have made. The program has been recognized nationally and serves as a model for similar “make-a-wish” programs at other senior-living organizations.
  • Betty Bailey Scholarship Fund: Betty Bailey, one of the first and longest-serving Penacook Place nurses, left a lasting impression with all who knew her.  She is memorialized by a fund which supports for book costs for Penacook Place students.

Donations may be made to any fund at any time in memory of or in honor of any individual, and will be acknowledged personally, and in the Penacook Place newsletter, POSTINGS.

Reports of all fund activity, with details concerning expenditures and current balances, are made on a regular basis to our Board of Directors.

All contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with Federal and State tax laws.

We thank you for your interest and support!
