Howard Brown receives leadership award from Mass. Aging Services |
|
HAVERHILL – Howard H. Brown, Ed.D., was recently honored by the Massachusetts Aging Services Association. Brown, who has served on the Board of Directors at Penacook Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since 1989, and was board chair from 1999-2007, is this year’s recipient of MassAging’s Board Leadership Award. MassAging is the only organization representing the full continuum of mission-driven, not-for-profit providers of health care, housing, and services for the elderly in Massachusetts. “No one is more deserving of this award than Howard Brown,” said Penacook Place President & CEO Julian Rich. “During his tenure as chair, he dedicated countless hours. Of his many contributions, one of the most important was developing practices to encourage input and participation from employees, residents, volunteers, families and other members of Penacook’s extended family. He has taken the time to know staff and residents and made himself available to hear their suggestions and comments. He stands as a pillar of strength and firm foundation for those who call Penacook home.” Since stepping down from office after eight years as board chair, Brown continues to serve as chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, currently leading Penacook through the process of implementing a renovation program that was recently approved by the Department of Public Health. The approval of a Determination of Need application for the renovation program was the result of a long-range planning process led by Brown. Now retired, Brown was previously Dean of the Business School at Ithaca College and Symington Professor of Management at Bradford College. Before entering the academic world, he worked in private industry as an engineer. |
