HAVERHILL — Josephine Yannalfo is the latest person to mark a century in Haverhill. Yannalfo, who has lived in Haverhill her entire life, turned 100 yesterday. About 80 family and friends attended an early birthday party at Lenzi's Catering and Functions in Dracut on Oct. 25. Yannalfo was married in 1927 to Eugene Yannalfo, also from Haverhill. The couple remained married until his death in 1994. Yannalfo worked at Fifth Avenue Shoe and then went to Western Electric, from which she retired. She belonged to St. James Church. "She has a very positive attitude. She's upbeat and has a wonderful sense of humor," said her daughter Joanne Fedorchuk. "She's always smiling. She always looked on the bright side of life." Yannalfo has lived at Penacook Place for just over two years. Before that, she lived at Mission Towers apartments for 14 years. |
