Two Penacook employees named Co-Activity Directors

HAVERHILL – Two long-time employees of Penacook Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have been named to share the responsibilities for activity programming. Together, Rosa Rivas and Donna Shaw are responsible for planning activities and events that bring together the residents of Penacook Place and enhance their quality of life.

Both Rivas and Shaw, who have worked as activity assistants as well as in other positions, received a tremendous amount of support from fellow staff members and residents who were eager to see them serve in this new role. “It’s really a tribute to them that so many people spoke on their behalf,” said Chief Operating Officer Charles Carrozza. “When the position became available, they both stepped up to the plate. They both wanted to approach this as co-directors. They get along and interact well with each other. It’s a testament to both Rosa and Donna that they’re so well liked and respected by staff members and residents.”

Rivas, who lives in Haverhill, has been employed at Penacook since October of 1990. She is licensed as a certified nursing assistant. Before rejoining the Penacook staff in 2001, Shaw, who resides in Bradford, had worked at the facility years ago in the Nursing Department. Both Rivas and Shaw were named Employees of the Month during the fourth quarter of 2007.

Located at 150 Water St., the 160-bed Penacook Place is the only not-for-profit nursing and rehabilitation facility serving the city of Haverhill.
