HAVERHILL – Penacook Place
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center recently honored several employees for
their years of dedicated service, including two who have served the
facility and its residents for three decades. Receptionist Mercie Brooks
of Haverhill and Certified Nursing Assistant Linda Schettino of
Atkinson, N.H., each received an award for their 30 years of service at
Penacook’s 36th Annual Staff Recognition Dinner, which was held in
January at the Roma Restaurant in Bradford. Both Brooks and Schettino
began working at the facility, then known as the Union Mission Nursing
Home, in 1976, just seven years after it was founded by a group of
concerned citizens whose vision was to provide medical care for the
elderly community. “Penacook Place is fortunate to have many long-term
employees who live by our golden rule, To care for our residents as we
would want to be cared for,” said President and CEO Julian Rich. “Mercie
and Linda are two shining examples of that ethic. It goes without saying
that they are very dedicated, loyal employees and we are lucky to have
them on our team.” Brooks was originally a housekeeper at Penacook
before she was promoted to the business office in 1980. “Mercie is a
very dedicated and reliable employee who is great with family and
residents,” said Chief Operating Officer Charlie Carrozza. “She seems to
know everyone in this city, which is helpful in her role as she meets
and greets all our staff and visitors each day. She is a nice constant
in an ever-changing environment.” Schettino has progressed to the
highest level of the career ladder for certified nursing assistants. “We
get nice compliments from residents and family members for the
compassionate care she gives,” said Director of Nursing Lisa Salterio. |
