Penacook celebrates residents who’ve experienced
100+ years of life

HAVERHILL – It’s no secret that people are living longer these days. Medical science has made advances that have improved overall health, quality of life and longevity for countless people. Though it’s not uncommon for people to live well into their 80s and 90s, rarely does one meet a half dozen people 100 years old or older who live under the same roof. But visitors to Penacook Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have that chance.
Six of Penacook’s residents have reached or surpassed the age of 100. President & CEO Julian Rich said it’s a benchmark worth noting.
“In all my years in this field, I’ve never been in a facility with so many people who’ve reached this age,” said Rich. “It is a testament to the dedication, determination and quality of work of a group of very special people, our employees.”
Penacook Place recently held a birthday party to recognize residents who have reached the century mark. Beth Torla, a rehabilitative technician, said she got the idea to have the party after conducting a survey to find Penacook’s oldest resident. “I’ve worked here nine years and I can’t ever remember having so many residents at the same time who were 100 years old or older,” she said.
