HAVERHILL – Penacook Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has a new Activities of Daily Living Station for use in its fast-track rehabilitation program, thanks to a grant from the Griffin-White Foundation. The station is used to help short-term residents receiving rehabilitation services re-learn household skills such as washing dishes, cooking meals or making a cup of tea. In addition, the employees of Penacook Place held a holiday raffle to raise funds that were donated to the United Way Giving Tree Program, which provided Christmas gifts to needy children. “Penacook Place has benefited from the generosity of the Griffin-White Foundation since 2001,” said President and CEO Julian Rich. “Through its support, the foundation has helped Penacook to enhance the services it provides to its residents. We are honored to have the foundation’s continued support and belief in Penacook’s mission.” The Griffin-White Foundation helps elderly Haverhill residents who need support services. Penacook Place also has a long-standing relationship with the United Way. This is the first year employees have held a raffle to raise money for the organization. However, many Penacook employees participate in a payroll deduction program to support the United Way. The United Way has also supported Penacook Place through its Gifts-In-Kind program. Located at 150 Water St., the 160-bed Penacook Place is the only not-for-profit nursing and rehabilitation facility serving the city of Haverhill. Penacook Place has a professional staff of 230 employees. |
