Penacook Place is an independent not-for-profit 160 bed nursing and rehabilitation facility serving the Greater Haverhill Community. The facility's roots were established in 1969 as Union Mission Nursing Home by a group of citizens whose vision was to provide medical care for the elderly community.

In 1995, the Board of Directors wanted to adopt a broader base name for the facility. By exploring Haverhill's past, they discovered that the Penacook tribe of Native Americans had been an important part of the area's history. The name acknowledges their contributions and helps to anchor the facility to its Haverhill roots.

Today, Penacook Place offers state-of-the-art care, modern amenities and a wide array of services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, a dietitian, short term placement, respite care, recreational programs and activities reflecting the needs of our population and involving community organizations.

We are a professional staff of 230 employees who provide the highest possible quality of life for our residents. The Lower Merrimack Valley Regional Employment Board recently cited Penacook Place as "Employer of the Year."

Penacook Place is a family of committed individuals who live by our golden rule -- "To care for our residents as we would want to be cared for."
